After the probationary firefighter has graduated the fire academy and completed a 4-week assignment on days, the next and final step of their orientation program is to complete a 10 shift Operational Readiness Training Period. During this phase, a mentor is assigned to the member and a detailed list of activities and assignments are completed under the close supervision of the mentor.
The member is assigned to a company as an additional crew member on a 24 hour shift basis. A daily evaluation is completed, and numerous policies and procedures are reviewed. Review of the evaluation package is required prior to the start of this period. This section contains the master evaluation package document and each days policy pages that are to be reviewed.
